Sod turned for $557.56M neurological rehabilitation centre at Industry
The Ministry of Health has turned the sod for the National Neurological Rehabilitation Centre at Industry, East Coast Demerara, advancing a project intended to expand specialised care for people living with neurological conditions.
The construction contract, valued at GYD 557.56 million, was awarded to Digital Design Construction, Logistics & Supplies Inc.
Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony attended the ceremony alongside Dr Ariane Mangar, Director of Rehabilitation and Disability Services, and other ministry officials.
Expected to be completed and commissioned by the end of 2027, the outpatient facility will support people recovering from strokes and those living with conditions including Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.
Planned services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, medical support and psychosocial care. The centre is intended to help patients improve their mobility, communication and ability to manage everyday activities, while supporting families and caregivers.
It is also expected to work alongside regional rehabilitation services, providing access to specialised assessment and treatment while allowing patients to continue receiving care closer to home.
The project was awarded on August 3, 2026, under reference 444/2026/47 and is listed on tenders.gy as Construction of National Neurological Center.
